V-GROOVE WHEELS
SPECIFICATIONS FOR V-GROOVE WHEELS
TRACK INFORMATION FOR V-GROOVE WHEELS
Bond v-grooved wheels are typically made from cast semi-steel designed with a heavy cross section for maximum strength and load carrying capacity. Most wheels are solid web design except those higher capacity wheels which are reinforced with heavily sectioned ribs.
Both the v-groove and face are precision machined, concentric with the hub bore to ensure smooth rolling action on inverted angle iron track. Wheel face is broad and strong for use "off-track". A relief groove at the base of the "V" assures equal weight distribution and tends to aid the self-cleaning action of the angle iron track.
Bond produces v-groove wheels from aluminum, ductile iron, forged steels, phenolic, polyurethane (70 Shore D), and stainless steel. Custom widths, grooves, hub lengths, bearings, plain bores and keyways are also available by consulting the factory.

TRACK FOR V-GROOVE WHEELS
|
This illustration shows how the various groove widths ride on the most popular angle iron sizes and the amount of under clearance for each different groove. |
Track used with v-grooved wheels should be securely anchored,
parallel and level. It is important that the track be
parallel to prevent binding of the wheel in the legs (fork) of the caster. With tapered roller bearing wheels, where no end play is possible, track alignment is critical. In some cases it may be desirable to use a single track and flat wheels on the off-side.
